Dreamworks have come up with another piece of animated gold with the fantastically entertaining Kung Fu Panda. With the excellent direction of Mark Osborne and John Stevenson and voiced by a galaxy of stars including Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan and Ian McShane, Kung Fu Panda is not a movie to miss.

The amazing animation of Kung Fu Panda is apparent from the outset with a beautifully crafted opening sequence of a delicate dream sequence which really sets the scene for the movie. There is enough pictorial wit from the opening to the end credits to satisfy any viewer with plenty of oooohh’s, aaaaah’s and wow’s.

Kung Fu Panda tells the story of Po (Black), a clumsy panda bear who by day works faithfully in his family’s noodle shop but by night dreams of becoming a master of the martial arts. Po is different, Po has a dream, Po has to struggle but his unlikely passion for kung fu will come to his aid as he leaves the noodle shop and enters the metaphoric hot pot.

When The Valley of Peace and its inhabitants come under threat from a malevolent snow leopard, voiced by McShane, it is Po who bears the mark of the chosen one and must act as protector.

With time running short, it is left to the Furious Five Legends, Tigress (Jolie), Crane (David Cross), Mantis (Seth Rogen), Viper (Lucy Liu), Monkey (Chan) and their wise sensei, Master Shifu (Hoffman) who all draw on their vast knowledge to help turn Po into a lethal Kung Fu Panda fighting machine.

If the noble Po can master the martial arts and turn into a fighting machine, he will fulfil his prophecy and be remembered as the one who saved his people from their darkest hour. Is Po able to transform his weaknesses into his greatest strengths and become a Kung Fu Panda?
